2 month stats

Caleb had his 2 month well-child visit yesterday.  I was excited to see how big he's gotten because he certainly feels a lot bigger to me!
Weight: 12 lbs, 1 oz
Height: 23 1/2"

He also got one oral vaccination and 3 shots. Ugh. That was so hard to watch. The somewhat funny part was that Matthew was with us and as soon as Caleb got his first shot, he started to scream and cry. Matthew also started to scream and cry. After all was said and done and I got them calmed down, Matthew told me "that not nice they hurt my Caleb.  Next time you tell her no pinch for baby." Ha.  Sorry bud, but next time, you will be with us and we will be there for your 4 year appointment and Caleb's 4 month appointment.  You're both gonna get some shots.  Mommy will need wine.

Caleb had a rough rest of the day.  He was obviously in pain and spent a lot of time screaming.  I felt so bad for him.
We cuddled together in my bed while big brother napped.

So because I'm always curious how Caleb is growing in comparison to Matthew, I looked up Matthew's 2-month visit. (he was about 2 lbs lighter).  What really stood out to me about it was the picture:

See that black strap up on my shoulder? That is the strap for the wound vac I had attached to my incision. At the 2 month visit.  Still.

This time around I dealt with some incision crap again, but it was so much much much much better than the last time and at 2 months my incision is completely closed and done with. No drama, no mess.  For that, I am thankful.  (side note:  I happen to also think I look less tired this time around, but that's just my opinion)

That's me with Caleb this past weekend.  I guess it's hard to see that I look less tired with the sunglasses on, but I look all pasty gross in the Matthew picture.  Maybe it's just the Texas sun working it's Vitamin D magic.

Sailboat outfit

Every now and then (ok, more often than not), I put an outfit on Caleb and remember exactly what Matthew looked like in it. (aww, lucky 2nd child gets all the hand me downs!).  Even better is when I have a picture.

I go back and forth all the time on whether or not they look alike, but now I'm pretty sure they do.  Caleb still has the dark blue eyes he was born with (Matthew was born with his amazing big brown eyes), but who knows if they'll end up blue or brown!  In any case, they're both adorable, no?

2 months old!

Recap

I am, yet again, amazed that my littlest boy is another month older. Where oh where did the last 2 months go?!?
Caleb is such an amazing baby. He is quite content most of the time.  He gets fussy when he's tired or hungry, other than that he pretty much goes with the flow. He is happy! The smiles, and just recently, giggles he gives us are absolutely the best.  Even better when he gives them to big brother. I mean, Matthew just gets close to him and he's automatically beaming and flashing a smile his way.  We are adjusting well to 2 kids.  Going to play dates, shopping trips, whatever, I've figured out how to do it with two.  I will likely never be on time for anything ever again, I guess, but other than that, I'd say it's not too bad.

My heart is so full of love for my two boys.
Happy 2 months Caleb!

Speaking of diapers...

I entered a photo in a contest on the facebook page of one of the online stores I like to order from.  Thus far, I'm actually doing pretty well--but not in 1st place anymore!! Apparently there's someone out there even better than me at begging people for votes.

So- I will beg here...please, please vote for my pic! I never win anything and oh boy it would be fun to win $100 gift certificate to this shop.

You can vote once every 24 hours until Sunday, so I just may be annoying and remind you again. :-)

Cloth Diapers

That's right. I'm doing it again. For all you thinking I've done lost my mind, I laugh.  I laugh because they're super easy, they're super cute and I'm saving money.  So I will diaper on.  And you either will or will not judge my choice of poop catcher, and either way, I shall not care.

Anyway, this post won't be interesting for most of you, but for my cloth diaper peeps, it may be. I know I was always interested in knowing how the newborn diapers fit early on, and pictures were even extra helpful.

So here's what I have for pics:

Kissaluvs size 0.  This is a fitted diaper, so you need a cover over it.  It has a snap down for the cord, so it's nice for newborns. I wasn't good at recording ages for these pics (sorry!), but he's less than 2 weeks old, so probably a little less than 8 lbs.  Diapers works well, especially with a good cover over it.  Holds in the newborn poo well.  Not the most absorbent, but does the job.

Bum Genius All in One, size XS.  He's about the same age as above pic.  Good fit, good absorbency. Out grew these at about 5 weeks.

Bummis XS Cover.  (over a kissaluv fitted)
Great cover.  Fit well, has double gusset, so no mess.

Thirsties duo wrap, size 1.  Snapped all the way to smallest size and over a KLO.  Double gusset.  Love this cover.

Thirsties size xs cover, over a KL0.  I like them, they work well, contain the mess.  I probably like the duo wrap a tiny bit more because it will last longer as you can snap to increase/decrease size.  If that part doesn't matter to you, then this one is a great cover.

The next 3 are all Thirsties duo all in ones, in size 1. They are snapped all the way to smallest size.  These are new on the market.  I love them.  Love.  So easy and despite not having the double gusset that is a trade mark of Thirsties, these diapers can hold in a MESS.  If you have ever had an exclusively breast fed baby, you understand.

Green Mountain Diaper fitted workhorse diaper.  This is basically a fitted made from a prefold.  This one is the snapless version.  You can get a great fit with the snappi.  This one is ok only.  Not terribly absorbent and not the greatest at containing the poop.  With a good cover, it is all contained and the clothes are saved, but the cover will be dirty.

Thirsties duo pocket diaper, size 1, snapped to smallest.  Great diaper- has the thirsties double gusset.  These are currently my night time diaper.  The inserts they come with are a microfiber insert snapped to a hemp insert, which makes them super absorbent.  I don't need tons of extra absorbency at night since he doesn't sleep for HUGE lengths of time, but they are good in the event he does sleep a bit more. (i.e. last night he slept 6 hours straight. Love that kid.)

This one is a Rumparooz one size diaper and perhaps the most impressive one size I own.  I would never have bought these because they are expensive, but I was given them to try out from a friend and I feel the love.  Impressive, first because look how well they fit a newborn.  Most "one size" diapers do not do a great job of accomplishing this.  They come with multiple inserts so you use the one that fits for the newborn size and it means it's not super bulky.  Additionally, it has some kick ass "internal gussets".  BF baby, newborn poo, successfully contained.  I really love these diapers.

Fuzzi bunz, one size diaper.  This is on a one-month old. Best guess, about 10 lbs here. (LOL- he grows FAST).  Good diaper.  Don't have anything fabulous to say, but nothing too bad either.

At this point- 6 weeks old and who knows how big (probably 11 lbs or so)- Caleb is now fitting into all the one size diapers I have.  I didn't think he would this early, but I washed them yesterday and have been trying today and they fit very well.  Here he is in an old sunbaby diaper ( I specify that it's old, because their sizing changes all the time; I got this one for Matthew when he was about 2 and it was too small for him).  Caleb is probably about a month old here.

My chunkster today in a newer style Sunbaby (but not the "newest" Sunbaby- those come in a size 1 and 2. This is a one-size, which I'm told is more like a 2).  It is snapped all the way down to it's smallest size.

So that's it for newborn- about 6 weeks.  Now that he's in the one-size diapers, I will have a few more to show you.  :-)  I never tire of trying out the diapers and seeing how dang cute they look on my kid.
