Fall fun!

Although in the short time I've been away from Texas, I forgot Fall isn't really Fall.  I'm still in shorts and don't see any pretty fall foliage reminiscent of my New England falls.  But there are still pumpkins on people's doorsteps and football games galore, so I suppose it's true, Fall is here!

This weekend we had the amazing opportunity to drive up to Dallas and spend the weekend with friends.  Matthew was truly confused because the friends we were staying with are actually our friends who live here, less then a mile from us (we were actually at her mom's house).  We had a lovely weekend, and while it's no secret that the Cowboys aren't cutting it this season, win or lose, there's no room to complain when attending a game at the awesome new stadium! It's massive, impressive, and full of life and fun.  I may not be the worlds biggest football fan, but I do enjoy watching, and it's just so much better LIVE.  Sure, sure- it's always better when the home team wins, but quite honestly, I had a blast either way!

We were also able to meet up with some friends at a local pumpkin patch- the kids had a great time playing and enjoying all the pumpkins, hay rides, train ride, and bounce houses.  We may only average a get together with the kids once a year or so, but it's so fun when we do!

Pictures to come- I think. We'll see if the camera worked, it's been giving me grief lately.

Happy football, all things pumpkin, pretty leaves and cooler weather season! (unless you're in Texas, in which case only about half of that applies!)

Matthew's vacation

Matthew is such a lucky boy! Here are some pictures from his little vacation to the beach last week.  In efforts to keep me safe from the radiation, he went with my mom, aunt and uncle to the beach for 4 days.  It looks like he had lots of fun.

Playing at the beach:
He loves to swim in the pool:
They took him to the aquarium:
He had a fun playground to enjoy:
Plenty to play with:
Lots of food to eat: (although I'm told he barely ate; oh so typical)
Played mini-golf:
Pretty much wore him out:

Looks like an exciting time to me!

Long week

Just here to say--I'm fine. Teeny tiny sore throat for 2 days, but nothing else.  Easiest treatment ever. Well, until the hypothyroidism kicks in that is.

I got to see my sweet boy Matthew for a few hours on Tuesday.  I'd like to say he was so excited to see me that he threw himself into my arms shouting "MOMMY!", but that's not quite how it went down.  He was pretty indifferent to me. Imagine the let down that was!  Anyway, my mom (Babci) came from Florida, and she, along with my aunt and uncle, took Matthew down to the beach for a few days.  Apparently he's having a blast- they've gone to the beach, aquarium, pool, mini-golfing (he told me on the phone he used the "yellow ball"), and who knows what else.  I'm sure he's getting properly spoiled, and I'm so excited to see him tomorrow!!

I am off all isolation or whatever you want to call it.  Still have limited cuddle time with Matthew for another week, but nothing else, so that's pretty great.  Looking forward to my mom being here another week too. :-)

Anticlimactic

Well, that whole radioactive iodine thing sure was nothing compared to all the thoughts, research, prayers, advice seeking I put into that decision.  Went this morning, signed a form acknowledging the treatment (I am an active radiation source right now. Some might find that cool.), swallowed a pill and went on my merry way.

I'm only 5 hours in and I'm already missing my boy.  My monkey, snugglenuggle, pumpkin pie, handsome man, little boy.  I know he is having a blast with daddy though.  He's probably going to hate me when he gets back because I'm sure Daddy will let him eat out for lunch and dinner and not push anything remotely healthy (who am I kidding? Matthew refuses anything healthy anyway).

Just baked some quite tasty, yet healthy-ish, cookies- whole wheat banana (and applesauce since Mike took the bananas with him and I only had 1/2 left) flax cookies.  With chocolate chips.  Pretty good if you ask me.

I also rented THREE girly no brain movies from Redbox this morning, so that should pass some time.

At some point I have plans to clean the house, but come on, it's Day 1 and I have a whole week of this.  Not doing that just yet.

Shouldn't be many side-effects- so far the only ones are a little bit of a sore throat and some exacerbation of my heart symptoms (beating really fast and lots of skipped beats).  Luckily I have the beta-blockers still to help that until my thyroid is calmed down some.

I haven't forgotten about disney pictures- just haven't gotten to it yet.  Shouldn't be a problem- I've got nothing but time.

:-)
